Amsterdam-based Mary B. (1980) is a contemporary fashion illustrator and catwalk model who has recently joined I Love Illustration Agency. A graduate of the prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts, The Hague, Mary refined her skills through additional studies at Central Saint Martins, London, and the Arendonk Academy, Belgium. Her primary mediums — colored pencils and oil pastels — bring evocative fashion illustrations to life, capturing the essence of contemporary style.

A JOURNEY OF TRANSFORMATION THROUGH ART
Mary’s artistic path took a pivotal turn during the global pandemic. After leaving her job to pursue an Artist Residency in Japan, she found herself homebound instead. This unexpected period of isolation became a creative turning point, allowing her to rediscover her passion for drawing and develop a distinctive artistic voice. Within six months, her work was exhibited at the IJCK group show, marking a new chapter in her career.

Mary’s illustrations balance raw energy and meticulous detail. Drawing inspiration from Instagram, street style looks, and emerging trends, she captures intriguing poses, unique characters, and striking patterns, translating them into work with a distinctive flair. Each piece breathes life into fashion, conveying textures, prints, and the atmosphere of her subjects. Vogue’s Laird Borrelli-Persson aptly described her work: “Perfection can be off-putting, imperfection is invitingly human.”

Mary’s work has been featured in group exhibitions at I Love Illustration Gallery, garnering attention for its emotional depth and dynamic style.
